Project Type: Modernization and Renovation
Role: Healthcare Designer, PA, PD, CA employed by Jeffrey Berman Architect
The new Surgical Day Hospital and Center for Image-Guided Intervention is a cancer treatment center that brings together minimally invasive surgery, interventional radiology, endoscopy, and radiation oncology, featuring 16 operating rooms and treatment rooms, along with support systems that enable it to operate as a standalone outpatient facility.
JBA designed the sterile operating environment and the pre- and post-op spaces with a focus on patient care and comfort, featuring private rooms with doors and quiet spaces that facilitate private encounters between patients, their families, and staff. By bringing multiple specialty areas together in the sterile OR environment, MSKCC has created opportunities for specialists to collaborate on developing new tools and procedures.
